Sheena Black, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon who sees patients in McKinney and Frisco. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sports injuries and orthopedic conditions ... affecting the shoulder, knee and hip. Her expertise includes arthroscopic shoulder surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, hip arthroscopy, ACL reconstruction, meniscus repair, rotator cuff repair, shoulder instability, cartilage injuries, shoulder replacement surgery and knee replacement surgery. Dr. Black is dedicated to helping athletes and active individuals of all ages return to the activities they enjoy. She provides advanced surgical and non-surgical treatment options, utilizing minimally invasive techniques whenever possible to reduce pain, restore function and optimize recovery. Her comprehensive approach includes treating both acute sports injuries and chronic orthopedic conditions affecting the shoulder, knee and hip. After graduating summa cum laude from The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Black earned her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical School, where she was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her orthopedic surgery residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital before pursuing advanced fellowship training in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, widely recognized as one of the nation's leading orthopedic institutions. During her fellowship, she served as an assistant team physician for the New York Knicks and Iona College. In addition to providing exceptional patient care, Dr. Black is actively involved in orthopedic research and education. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and presented research at national meetings. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America and the International Society for Hip Arthroscopy. Dr. Black has been recognized by D Magazine as a Best Doctor in Collin County. In her spare time, Dr. Black enjoys spending time with her husband and chasing after their three sons and Labrador. She is also a sports enthusiast and likes staying active with riding her Peloton, running, group fitness classes, and fishing.
